Twice-Told İstanbul: A Stylistic Reading of The English Translations Of Kara Kitap
The present book examines whether the stylistic features of Orhan Pamuk’s Kara Kitap, which is selected as the core source for the analysis, are maintained in its two English translations by Güneli Gün (1994) and Maureen Freely (2006). Through a comparative stylistic analysis rooted in Antoine Berman’s Analytic of Translation and its twelve deforming tendencies, the book explores how Pamuk’s voice wanders across linguistic borders within the domain of English translation.
